PRAGUE and a little of Paris

Image
So far we've spent the most time in Prague. Out of all the places I've been, I would have liked to see more it. There was the Old Town and the new city and both were fascinating . Our Air bnb was on Stephanska street which was about 2 miles away from St. Charles bridge. The street was busy and they had really good Indian and Chinese food. Of course on our first night we had traditional Czech food but it was very heavy and the a popular dish is boiled bread and braughworst. We mostly drank a beer because it was so cheap and picked up food whenever we wanted. The one thing that I wanted to do so badly but didn’t have enough time to book a reservation was the Beer Spa. You basically take a bath in beer as well as get a massage all while drinking! St. Charles bridge was a very famous bridge that we crossed about 3 or four times a day to get us from the old town to our air bnb. The bridge was packed with tourists, artists, beggars and statues but it was very beautiful early in the m...

Vienna (wein)

Image
We arrived around 11 pm on Sunday in Vienna. We checked into hotel Magdas. I chose this hotel in the city because I had read somewhere that this district of Vienna was a melting pot of culture. At one point, the hotel was a retirement home. This explained the extremely large rooms and weird layout. My mom and I had a double room that had 4 beds and a balcony.  We dropped our luggage off because we couldnt check in till 3pm so we ended up walking around the city for hours. We walked through the park then to the tram station that led us to the main part of the city which was two stops away. I filmed alot here because the architexture was gothic and the city was really big.  We walked around the beautiful park and met a frenchman that was just as lost as we were but still exploring the city. We tried the chocolate torte at the famous Hotel Sacher. It was delicious. We had lunch at Miznon on 1010 Wien, Schulerstr. I had an entire cooked cauliflower and a ratatouille pita. Absolut...

Leaving Switzerland, onto Vienna

Image
On Friday, we took the 9:35 train out of Lucerne. :( We were heading for Salsburg but we bought a ticket that was 100 € cheaper and it took us back to Zurich ( Rated second in the best living cities in the world) then on a 4 hour bus ride to Munich and then finally a train to Salsburg. My mom and I agreed on never taking the cheaper ticket.  We spent a while looking out of windows that looked alot like Wisconsin (minus the mountains.  My mom  and I were down for the 10 minute walk to our hotel but I had to carry her backpack that made me look like a tortoise. So we off to the hotel, like a heard of turtles. Our hotel was called the Urban Stay Villa. The Italian/Pakistani restaurant next to us was super tempting. When the wind blows we can really get a nice wiff of some curry and garlic bread. We   were lucky enough to have arrived on a Friday when things were good.  It was around 10pm and the young and old  were out like it was midday.  Salsburg has ch...

Switzerland

Image
they don't make the coffee strong enough here  My mom and I saw this girl doing this pose and it's our go to pose now.   WOW!!!! a little german/swiss dauchsaund mom felt a little claustrophobic on this ride, so she looked out the window and saw this view     Löwendenkmal going up to Mt. Pilatus  Lake Lucerne    After 24 hours of flying with a 4 hour layover in Moscow ... we made it to Zurich. I was so tired but we still had to find our hotel which we made more complicated than it should have been. It was about 3 minutes from the airport but it was so nice to finally lay horizontal. The next morning,  we had coffee in our room and we were on our way to Lucerne. We took the Swiss rail to Lucerne (Germans spell it Luzern) and met up with Bill, our Air Bnb host/Scottish bartender. My mom and I  walked around the old cobble stoned city which eventually led us to the Lowendenkmal ( lion monument built in 1820). ...

Essentials

Image
These aren't really the essentials but these things will help pass the time when I'm waiting in the Moscow airport for four hours. My mom and I are leaving today and I was in charge of booking all the hotels and Air BnB's. I thought I was doing alright with the task but I pressed the wrong dates for our first hotel. This lead to one expensive phone call to Switzerland and another call to the booking.com headquarters in Chicago. Luckily, they were able to change the dates before it became an expensive mistake. Haven't even left my house yet and I'm already f*cking up. I leave for LAX in a half an hour but I'm getting really sad. I don't want to leave my dogs and kitties for three weeks.   I feel like they're going to get bigger and miss me too. The one thing that I know from traveling internationally is the amount of cats and dogs that run wild. I really appreciate the fact that the citizens of the country actually care for the homeless dogs and cats...
