Vienna (wein)

We arrived around 11 pm on Sunday in Vienna. We checked into hotel Magdas. I chose this hotel in the city because I had read somewhere that this district of Vienna was a melting pot of culture. At one point, the hotel was a retirement home. This explained the extremely large rooms and weird layout. My mom and I had a double room that had 4 beds and a balcony. We dropped our luggage off because we couldnt check in till 3pm so we ended up walking around the city for hours. We walked through the park then to the tram station that led us to the main part of the city which was two stops away. I filmed alot here because the architexture was gothic and the city was really big. We walked around the beautiful park and met a frenchman that was just as lost as we were but still exploring the city. We tried the chocolate torte at the famous Hotel Sacher. It was delicious. We had lunch at Miznon on 1010 Wien, Schulerstr. I had an entire cooked cauliflower and a ratatouille pita. Absolutely amazing. We took the tram back from Stephenplatz to our part of town which was off a station called Palletz. We went on a ride of the oldest working ferris wheel and walked around the amusement park. That night we knew had to wake up early for the wine tour so we called it quits on the bar scene and just walked around the park and listened to Coldplay that had its tour going on. We stumbled upon on an outdoor movie playing some crappy Woody Allen film. I like Woody Allen but this one wasn't good. It was about 2 couples having a love affair with one another. Not the most exciting thing to watch. We went to bed and woke up in good spirits because we were going bike riding! This bike tour was one of the best things I've experienced thus far. We met so many fun, wine loving people that came from all over. Some lovely girls from London, 2 boys from Cornell that just graduated and a girl my age from Wisconsin, a married couple from Studio City, California and few others. The wine wss extraordinary and the biking was tough. The tour guide said it was all flat but it certainitly wasn't. After hiking 16 miles, we iced our knees and legs in the Danube ( main river in Austria). On the train ride back from Kems which is where we got dropped off, we opened up a few bottles of wine and drank what we just purchased from the vineyard. We didn't have a wine key so one of the boys from Cornell, Eric, used his thumb to push the cork through. Jose, our tour guide, was unimpressed. That night we had dinner at an AUSTRALIAN bar. I definitely got my travels license taking away for that. I was about to eat Kangaroo in Austria, but I didn't! Then, we heard from the girls from London about a bar called Roberto Americano, so a few of us from the tour went. I had a drink called Chinatown and everyone else had this drink called a Bittersweet Symphony. Amazing drinks. Around midnight we went back to our hotel and of course we were not in the best neighborhood so that was unnerving. I promised my mom the next thing I book will be in the main city center. So we only spent two days in Vienna, and the bike ride was beautiful and so was the country side as well as the food.
Prague will be fun! I have a really good feeling about it. We just arrived here and it has a lot of Chicago style. Plus the beer is cheaper than water here! I feel safer in Prague than I did in Vienna.

You come to Prague and you don't let me know? Silly goose! I am here...-Filip
